Congratulations to both David's in making this year's American Idol show something special to watch. David Cook won the final round by 12 million votes.

American Idol - Finals

This might have been the most spectacular American Idol final since the show began. Both finalists David Cook and David Archuleta were at the top of their games.
I still see David Cook barely edging out David Archuleta as the winner.

David Cook stole the show once again. I can't imagine anything but a David vs David final next week but we'll see tonight as the votes are tallied.

American Idol - Top 4 Perform

Jason Castro became yet another contestant this season to flub lyrics to a song on American Idol. While performing the Bob Dylan classic "Mr. Tambourine Man", Jason forgot the words to the second verse. I thought it was a great choice for him, but I don't think American Idol fans will have as much sympathy this time around in voting as they did for Brooke White.

Meanwhile, David Cook's performance of Duran Duran's "Hungry Like The Wolf" had the audience screaming for more.

American Idol Top 5 Perform

The five remaining American Idol contestants all performed Neil Diamond songs tonight. Same old, same old responses from Simon, Paula and Randy. The show is beginning to drag on longer than a 162 game baseball season. Most likely Jason Castro or Brooke White will be going home tomorrow although we were completely wrong last week as Carly was voted off.

Carly Smithson gets voted off of American Idol

America has voted and the viewers of American Idol have decided that they prefer dreadlocks over tattoos! Carly Smithson was eliminated from the top 6 after her performance on Andrew Lloyd Webber week. Many people were surprised that Brooke White wasn't even in the bottom 2 after her major slip up.

American Idol Top 6 Perform

It was all about the drama Tuesday, as American Idol contestants took on Andrew Lloyd Webber songs. In one of the biggest hiccups on American Idol ever, Brooke White forgot her lines. She did manage to pause, pull herself together, and finish the song in front of millions of viewers. Simon Cowell commented that Brooke would be "very disappointed when you watch this back".

American Idol Final 7 Perform Mariah Carey Songs

We thought David Cook shined tonight on American Idol as he turned Mariah Carey's "Always be My Baby" into a rock ballad. The song is sure to be on a future American Idol CD. What did you think of tonight's performances?

Amercian Idol Final 8 Elimination - Michael Johns

It is the end of the road for Michael Johns tonight. He was voted off American Idol.
Syesha Mercado and Carly Smithson were part of the bottom three this week. Check out the video of Michael John's elimination as it appears to shock the entire American Idol studio.

UPDATE: Ramiele Malubay, a 20-year-old contestant from Florida, was voted off Wednesday night. Malubay was eliminated from the competition after she performed Dolly Parton's Do I Ever Cross Your Mind.
